Guard inmates in correctional and rehabilitative institutions in accordance with established regulations and procedures. May supervise prisoners in transit between facilities, courtrooms, and other locations. Includes deputy sheriffs and police officers whose primary duties involve correctional supervision.

Maintain public safety and protect life and property by enforcing local, tribal, state, and federal laws. Duties may include patrolling assigned areas, responding to emergencies, investigating incidents, directing traffic, issuing citations, and making arrests.

Help ensure the safety and well-being of children and adults who may be experiencing abuse, neglect, or other circumstances requiring protective intervention and support services.

Guard, patrol, and monitor premises to prevent theft, violence, vandalism, or rule violations. May operate security screening equipment such as metal detectors and X-ray systems.

Screen passengers, baggage, and cargo to ensure compliance with transportation security regulations. Operate security equipment and help maintain safe travel environments at transportation facilities.
