American Bar Association

Per ABA requirements, at least 9 credits of the program's legal specialty courses must be taken in person or in a live online format (i.e., online courses that meet a specific time each week).

91Ƭ’s Legal Studies/Paralegal program prepares students to obtain the required credentials to be employed/practice in the state of Wisconsin. Federal regulations state that institutions may not enroll students who intend to practice in states in which our curriculum does not meet their requirements for preparation, examination, or licensure. If you intend to work outside of Wisconsin, please work with your academic counselor to determine if 91Ƭ’s curriculum and/or Wisconsin’s credentials will suffice for the state you intend to practice in.

Perform clerical duties for courts of law, municipalities, or governmental licensing agencies and bureaus. May prepare dockets of cases, gather information for judges and court officials, prepare agendas or bylaws, answer official correspondence, maintain fiscal records, issue licenses or permits, administer tests, and collect fees.

Perform secretarial duties using legal terminology, procedures, and documents. Prepare legal papers and correspondence such as summonses, complaints, motions, and subpoenas. May also assist with legal research.

Perform a variety of legal support functions and administrative duties that assist attorneys, courts, and legal organizations. Includes legal support occupations not classified separately.

Assist attorneys by investigating facts, preparing legal documents, conducting legal research, and gathering information to support legal proceedings, defenses, or legal actions.

Some of 91Ƭ’s programs may reach program capacity due to high demand. When this occurs, the College will follow the Admissions Procedure to establish and maintain a waitlist to prioritize enrollment. Many program courses are offered online, in an accelerated format or in a blended delivery which means instructors combine online learning with classroom work to limit your time on campus.
