Inspect, test, sort, sample, or weigh nonagricultural raw materials or processed, machined, fabricated, or assembled parts or products for defects, wear, and deviations from specifications. May use precision measuring instruments and complex test equipment.

Apply engineering theory and principles to problems of industrial layout or manufacturing production, usually under the direction of engineering staff. May perform time and motion studies on worker operations to establish production standards and improve efficiency.

Execute or adapt procedures and techniques for calibrating measurement devices by applying knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, and electronics. May perform preventive maintenance and corrective actions to address calibration issues.

Perform technical support work in life, physical, and social science fields not classified elsewhere.

Plan, direct, or coordinate the work activities and resources necessary to manufacture products according to cost, quality, and quantity specifications.

Perform engineering technician duties not specifically classified elsewhere, excluding drafting occupations.
